Have you ever won a game or an argument? What would we call that? Well, we would use the term victory. But can victory be used for more reasons? If so, what for? Hello and welcome to Talking About Topics, a podcast where we discuss and compare thoughtful topics using both Christian and Earthly Viewpoints. A new episode is released every Sunday. This week's topic, as hinted by the scripture I gave last week, is victory. First we will discuss victory with the earthly viewpoint. So, starting off, here's a deck definition of this topic using Miriam Webster's dictionary.
It says the overcoming of an enemy or an antagonist, achievement of mastery or success in a struggle or endeavor. With this definition, victory can be anything from winning a race to surviving a war. Now, the most important way we tend to use victory in this day and age is in politics. Some of us would like a certain law to be passed, while others would like it to be rejected. This does vary by country, though. As we've seen here, earthly victory can be tied to morals, as we get to choose what qualifies as a victory for us.
But is it the same when using the Bible as a reference to what victory actually means? Well, let's move on to the Christian viewpoint to answer this. In fact, I have a passage to help us, and if you listen to last week's announcement episode, you might honestly remember it. The passage is in 1 Corinthians 15, verses 51 through 58. It says, But let me reveal to you a wonderful secret. We will not all die, but we will all be transformed. It will happen in a moment, in the blink of an eye, when the last trumpet is blown.
For when the trumpet blows, those who have died will be raised to live forever, and we who are living will also be transformed. For our dying bodies must be transformed into bodies that will never die. Our mortal bodies must be transformed into immortal bodies. Then when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this scripture will be fulfilled. Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your stain? For sin is the stain that results in death, and the law gives sin its power.
But thank God, He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless. A summary of this could be through and only through Christ we can have victory over the most evil thing ever, which is death. Death and sin will not be able to overcome us anymore. One thing I would also like to point out is that we as Christians don't choose our victories.
God does. And a victory, according to him, is overcoming personal sin and overcoming spiritual death. And if this is important, we should strive to do this. We should strive to turn away from old habits and become new, new beings in Christ. So, in conclusion, earthly victory can be chosen, but spiritual and biblical victory has already been chosen, and it is overcoming spiritual death in this spiritual battle between life and death. This can account for anything from turning away from a bad habit to proclaiming the gospel for all to hear.
Thank you for listening to episode 15 of Talking About Topics. I do know it was a short one. If you have any questions, comments, or topic ideas, you can just email me at talking about topicspodcast at gmail.com. Also, I would like to say that I have opened a support page for those who would like to donate a monthly amount of money, you know, every month, so that I can afford to buy more products for the show, and therefore release episodes much easier and quicker every week. You absolutely do not need to donate, uh, it is only encouraged, and the link will be in the description of this episode, and last week's episode.
So you can do that if you want. I really hope you enjoyed this episode, and if it if you did, or even if you didn't, please share this podcast because I am really trying to get out there into the Christian and earthly community. I mean the main summary of this episode is that we should try to get victory over death. So, what better way to do that than share the gospel, which is what this podcast teaches? Sharing is also optional. I am not trying to force you into any of these things. So, yes, I hope that this episode was meaningful to whoever listens to it.
With that, I will see you in next week's episode.
